Crooks Hollow Studio is Calgary’s premier boutique recording studio. Founded in late 2023, Owner/Operator Murray Emery wanted to design and build a space from the ground up where musicians can thrive and bring their dream projects to life. Featuring world-class vintage analog gear combined with the ease and functionality of all of its modern counterparts stitched into a single space, Crooks Hollow can accommodate all audio recording needs.

Acoustically Focused, Built From The Ground Up

About The Studio

Studio A houses a control room, live room and isolation booth. Everything is acoustically designed and calculated from the ground up during the construction process to ensure perfect results in acoustic design. Studio B is an open concept control/tracking room that is currently under construction and will be operational in 2027.

Our goal is to provide our clients with the ultimate final product while working in a creative space where comfort, passion and the studio experience encompass their creativity. Working alongside passionate individuals looking to bring their dreams into reality.

Meet The Owner

Murray Emery founded Crooks Hollow with a vision that would allow him to utilize his diverse skills to create the ultimate audio service.

Having graduated in 2021 with a diploma in Broadcast Systems Technology from SAIT and in Audio Engineering & Music Production from OIART, Murray leveraged these skills along with a construction background to design and build his dream studio with the goal of creating great music and building community here in Calgary Alberta. With almost a decade of recording experience and more than a decade of experience as a musician and actively touring. Murray is here to not only make music, but to also work at the ground level on artist development.

Marco Cioffi

Assistant Engineer

Marco Cioffi is a professional musician and audio engineer. With over a decade of experience on multiple instruments, including, drums, guitar and bass, Marco has etched himself into the fibres of CHS. Over the last year here, he has shown the necessary skills to produce, aid and manage sessions, and add to the experience that Crooks Hollow provides. He will be taking over Studio B that is currently under construction, in 2027.

Reed Alton

Vocal Producer & Voice Coach

Reed Alton is a seasoned professional musician and vocal coach with over a decade of experience in touring, recording, performing and vocal coaching. With both touring bands Osyron and In/Vertigo, Reed has performed and toured all across North America and in Europe while amassing invaluable experience when it comes to the voice. Able to offer coaching, production and a blend of both, he is happy and honoured to lend his services to Crooks Hollow Studio in Calgary AB for anything related to vocal tracking and vocal performances.
